Deogarh is a Hindi word and the meaning of Deogarh is 'ghar' of GODS and GODDNESS.Deogarh is also known as "Baidynath Dham" and "Baba Dham".

The name Deogarh seems to be from the erection of the great temple of Lord Baidyanath.Deogarh district is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand state.And Deogarh town is the administrative headquarters of this district.This district is known for the Baidyanath jyotirlinga shrine.And Deogarh is part of Santhal division,It is located in the Santhal's division area.


Bidyanath Temple in Deogargh holds one of the twelve'Shiva jyothirlingams' and is also one the 51 saktipeeths in India.The Purans refer this temple as fit place for funeral obsequies.It is also famous globally as the mela of Shrawan.It is the only place in India where the jyotirilinga and the saktipeeth  are together.Each year between July and August about 7 to 8 million devotees come from all corners of India to offer holy water from the Ganges ar Sultangunj--almost--108km--from Deogarh--to present to Lord Shiva.
